About Me

Daniel McAdams

       The BirdSpy

I am 23 years old and have been birding since I was 14.  My dad got me into this wonderful pursuit when we were in Simi Valley, CA and a magnificent Say's Phoebe flew into the yard.  He challenged me to identify it, and upon failing, I was determined to never fail an identification challenge again.  Needless to say, ever since I have been seeking out birds wherever I may be. I live in and primarily bird Colorado, though I enjoy taking trips to other states.  My favorite species are the Bushtit and Bufflehead, both incredible and wonderful birds.  I utilize the Stokes Talon 8x42 as my binoculars and rely on my much loved Kaufman Field Guide to Birds of North America, as well as my Peterson Field Guide to Birds of North America.

Along my birding journey, I have lead and co-lead multiple bird walks and have participated in many Christmas Bird Counts as well as many Great Backyard Bird Counts. I have birded many locations throughout the state, including Barr Lake, Chatfield and Walden Ponds, as well as many locations in California and a few in Hawaii, Texas, Idaho, Wyoming, Arizona and Oklahoma.

I am a professional photographer, and you will rarely find me without my camera close by.
Nature and abandoned buildings are my favorite subjects.
